Ecker Invites Seniors to Fraud Prevention Seminar

January 30, 2025

ABBOTTSTOWN – To help stop senior citizens from falling victim to fraud, Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Abbottstown) is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to host a Senior Fraud Prevention Seminar in February.

The free event will be held Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Nicarry Meetinghouse of Cross Keys Village, 2990 Carlisle Pike, in New Oxford.

“Everyday scammers actively target older residents in fraud schemes. These are heinous crimes perpetrated by people who are, sadly, difficult to catch,” Ecker said. “One of the best ways to address fraud is to help residents understand what it is and how not to become a fraud victim.”

At the seminar, a representative from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office will discuss in an easy-to-understand manner the various types of fraud and ways in which to avoid them. Senior citizens, their families and caregivers are encouraged to attend. There is no need to register in advance.
