Ecker, Rothman Announce Shippensburg Road Project Funding

HARRISBURG – As efforts continue to relieve congestion in Shippensburg, the borough will receive a $357,172 grant for the Dykeman Road Extension project, Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) and Sen. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland) announced.

“Shippensburg has witnessed an increase of traffic, straining existing road infrastructure,” Ecker said. “Thanks to this funding, the long-awaited project will help reduce congestion by providing alternative routes for drivers.”

Once complete, the transportation improvement project will give motorists an alternate route around Shippensburg while also relieving severe congestion on King Street (U.S. Route 11) and Orange Street, as well as other nearby roads. It will also alleviate congestion on Queen Street and Fayette Street.

“These funds will improve traffic flow and ensure greater safety for those who live, work and shop in Shippensburg for years to come,” Rothman said.

The project was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development, through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. The fund provides grants to support economic development and safe and reliable transportation.
