Ecker Announces Funding for Adams County Fire/EMS

ABBOTTSTOWN – Several fire companies and emergency medical service providers that assist residents in parts of Adams County received nearly $175,000 in funding through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Abbottstown) announced.
“This funding will further help the brave men and women of Adams County who help us in our times of need,” Ecker said. “We not only owe them a debt of gratitude, but also the support they need so they have the needed equipment and training to help others.”
The departments to receive funding are:
• Adams Regional Emergency Medical Services: $30,000.
• Alpha Fire Co.: $16,106.
• Arendtsville Community Fire Co.: $16,322.
• Bendersville Community Fire Co.: $16,106.
• Biglerville Hose Truck Co.: $13,739.
• Irishtown Fire Co.: $14,170.
• Northeast Adams Fire and EMS: $15,030.
• United Hook and Ladder Co.: $52,322.
The grant funding is used to further the mission of providing emergency services. Particularly, the funding must be used for facilities, equipment, debt reduction, training and education. In addition, career departments can use the funding for overtime costs associated with backfilling positions while firefighters are attending training.
